Our Work
Middlemore is unique in terms of the range and variety of support that is provided for families and children in south Birmingham, all under one roof. All clients are referred to the Centre by Social Services or by the Health and Education agencies. The initial assessments tend to identify problems which have been brought about by a variety of factors that include stress, anxiety, depression, domestic violence, sexual abuse, debt and housing issues, drug and alcohol abuse, and/or an inability to form sound relationships, both in and outside the family.
Many of the children referred have behavioural problems, sometimes caused by living with extreme difficulties in the home.
The Middlemore approach, which may include development and behavioural work with children, and/or the provision of counselling for adults, enables clients to become more self assured and calmer. They gain a greater self-esteem, acquire better parenting skills and develop the confidence to sustain relationships.
